Topic guides
Pearson Edexcel A level Mathematics (9MA0) is assessed by three 2-hour papers of 100 marks each — 300 marks in total. Papers 1 and 2 share one Pure Mathematics syllabus; Paper 3 splits into Statistics (Section A) and Mechanics (Section B). Calculators are allowed in every paper. The standalone AS qualification (8MA0) is marked out of 160.
Each guide below covers one spec topic: what the specification actually asks, the themes examiners keep raising in their reports, the mistakes that cost the most marks, and how to revise it. Per-topic mark counts are our estimates from the 2018–2025 papers — Edexcel publishes no official per-topic weighting.
